Business Information Consultant
Job Summary
The Business Information Consultant serves as a primary connection between IT Corporate Functions Business Technology and Drug Manufacturing / Logistics Support (Technical Operations), including Medical Devices / Digital Health business units, in a GxP regulated environment. The focus will be on building relationship, influencing technology recommendations and decisions for the Technical Operation and Manufacturing teams.
Job Description
The Business Information Consultant will ensure technology investments are aligned with business objectives, are scalable for future growth, and are designed to maximize utility across the organization. He/she will Lead the relationship with internal customers, and advocates by driving information integration and process improvements that enable business / IT operations effectiveness; provide oversights on system enhancement and all implementation activity for both off the shelf and home-grown manufacturing execution systems that service Technical Operations, Digital Medicine and Devices business units. Areas of support include, but not limited to, digital medicine manufacturing technology and Technical Operations. In addition, the potential candidate will work with other IT services groups to ensure successful alignment, integration, and enablement of Project Delivery, Business Architecture, Production Support, and Technology Shared Services functions.
Relationship Management
• Accountable for overall health status of relationship with business customers. Ensure that project delivery services and business production support services are meeting the customer need and be an escalation point for business customers if needed.
• Manage technology-related communications to stakeholders within the business
• Ensure that implementation of projects and business production systems are delivering agreed upon value
• Assist business customers in identifying appropriate contacts within IT who can address infrastructure, support or other enterprise-wide IT needs
• Partners with application solutions and vendors to define scope and functions of application systems, by serving as the conduit between the customer community and software development team
• Translates high level business requirements into user requirements and functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to user requirements throughout the development lifecycle
Strategic Technology Roadmap and Value Creation
• Understand business strategic goals and objectives; Inform and influence business strategies bringing current knowledge, and future vision of technology and systems for competitive advantage
• Evaluate current technology stack and articulate strengths / weaknesses
• Drive the definition of technology objectives and recommend industry-leading solutions to support business needs
• Facilitate prioritization of technology needs with business customers
• Develop a business aligned IT strategy and roadmap that addresses operational contingencies
• Leads vendor selection and application / system design workshop, and collaborates on the redesign of business processes and documentation
Technology Opportunity Qualification
• Help identify business improvement opportunities
• Identify technology solutions to support business opportunities
• Evaluate technology solutions based on business value and identify trade-offs
• Manage the IT needs as a portfolio of projects
• Develop and manage capability improvement strategy
• Develop a detailed business case which provides enough detail on business / user requirements, project schedule, costs, and resource (both IT and Business) requirements to accurately justify an IT expenditure within 80-90% confidence
On-going Business Maintenance
• Provide guidance and advice on changes require to support existing systems and solutions
• Review business case for technology upgrades and releases
• Interface with other IT service groups to ensure successful alignment and enablement of objectives
• Incorporate yearly budget support into overall portfolio budget planning
Experience and Education Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems related field, MBA or Master’s degree preferred
• 10-12 years’ experience in Manufacturing and information systems
• Experience with developing detailed budget estimates, project plans, and identifying change management and communication strategies to support successful implementation of technology within the business and ability to present said plans to Leadership
